...by a 91 year old woman. Yes, ladies and gentlemen meet Olive. A 91 year old woman that beat my time in Saturday's 5k race. Now, I'm not going to point fingers here and call her a cheat, but I SWEAR I never saw her pass us on the race course. hehe. We (my boyfriend and a friend of his from work) passed her in the very beginning of the race and made a solemn vow to at least finish the race before her, alas, it was not to be. This amazing woman completed the race with a time of 47minutes and 48 seconds while I completed the race in 55minutes and 36 seconds. *sigh* So disappointing to have your butt soundly kicked by someone so much older. hehe.
For this race, my boyfriend brought along a friend from work. At first I was really excited because she walked at a much slower pace than the b/f generally makes me walk, but at the end of the race I was a little bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I broke a sweat while walking, but I know I could have gone faster. I really want to complete one of these races in under 50 minutes. To actually compete with people in my age group, I would have to finish a race in under 40 minutes, but for right now, 50 minutes is my goal. I should be able to do that EASY. I'm going to start training for it this week. I'm really going to try to get out there and try to walk at least 2 to 3 miles every night. We'll see if I get off my lazy butt to do it.
